Charlie F. Tater, Jr., 83, of Victoria, passed away January 29, 2017 with his wife by his side. Charlie was born December 29, 1933 in Inez to the late Charlie Sr. and Annie Dusek Tater. Charlie worked for Union Carbide as a maintenance supervisor and retired after 31 years. He enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting and loved spending time with his family. Charlie was a member of Holy Name Society, Ramblin Rose Camping Club, Carbide Retiree Club and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Charlie is survived by his wife and soul mate of 62 years, Marjorie Berger Tater; children, Sandra (Mike) Howard of Victoria, Sally (Mike) Reagan of Charco, Kenneth (LaRue) Tater of Mission Valley, Susan (Gary) Shafer of Mission Valley; grandchildren, Nathan Hanselka, Stacey Brandl, Trey Reagan, LaRissa Tater, Colt Tater, Calder Tater, Britton Shafer, Rachele Gregory, Tyler Reagan, Kayla Shafer; several great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Genieve Hubenak, Valerie Tater; brothers, Jerome, Marvin and Wayne Tater and his father-in law and mother-in law, Fred and Lena Berger.
A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to begin at 7 PM.
Funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Albert Yankey officiating. Burial will immediate follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charlie’s grandsons, Nathan Hanselka, Trey Reagan, Colt Tater, Calder Tater, Britton Shafer and Tyler Reagan.
Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie’s granddaughters and his fishing buddy, Allan Ray Berger, Jr.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund.
