Charlotte was born September 25, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in nearby Garland, raised by her mother. After marriage, starting a family, and graduating high school, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she lived until 1987. Following a divorce, she moved to South Texas, first living in Goliad County where her two youngest sons attended school and after 1997, in Victoria County where she and the love of her life, Eldon Raaz bought a house together. In the same year, her youngest son passed away at 17, and in the next year, her beloved husband also passed, leaving her alone in their new home. Tragedy however did not slow her down. She made many friends, was very active in compassionate care work through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, helped anybody she came across, and gave dozens of stray and abandoned cats and dogs a home over the years. She was beloved and she will be missed.
Charlotte is survived by her three sons Charles Thacker, Jr and Eric Thacker of Nevada, and Dwayne Thacker, his wife JoAnne, and four beautiful grandchildren Abigail, Roger, Steven, and Isabelle in New York. She is preceded in death by her mother Hannah Anderson of Garland, her husband Eldon Raaz of Victoria, and her youngest son Steven Thacker of Goliad. The family expresses deep gratitude and profound thanks to Charlotte’s friends and particularly Robert Schaefer and his parents, who helped her through the difficult last years of her life, enabling her to stay in her home until the very end.
Burial will be at Wood High Cemetery in Wood High Community, beside her husband and son.
