

Chester Wayne Stanford, 68, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018. Chester was born in Sinton, Texas, November 1, 1949 to the late Bennie Chester Stanford and Jessie Thymes Stanford. He graduated from Luling High School in 1968 where he played football and ran track. He as a teenager worked for the Luling Ice House and after football practice he and his brother went to work with his dad for his Grandpa Ben on drilling rigs; if they were not going they went to the Lease Crew and Tank Battery’s. His dad taught him the oil field. Chester worked for Oil Supply Company’s in sales warehouse and management throughout Texas, his entire working life.
He served 6 years in The Army National Guard in the artillery division and finished rank as Sergeant. He was a member of the Fraternal Elks Lodge #1128 in Longview, Texas for 20 years. He held various offices and was elected Texas State Representative. He and his wife loved traveling all over Texas raising money for the Elks Crippled Children’s Hospital in Ottine, Texas. Things he enjoyed in life was watching wrestling on T.V with his sons, reading paperback western books and novels, enjoyed smoking cigars, dancing every weekend, drinking Crown and coke, being with family and friends just having a good time. He was a Catholic. Married in 1971 to his love (all my life) he’d say his beloved wife, Geraldine Repka Stanford of 45 years. Has 2 sons, Eric W. Stanford of Beeville, TX, Arron M. Stanford of Edinburg; 2 grandchildren, his pride and joy, A.J. and Gracie Stanford of Victoria, mother of the grandchildren, Teara McPherson of Victoria; brother, Ronnie Stanford (Sharon) of Luling; sister, Sylvia Barrington (Randy) of Lockhart; brother-in-law, Glenn Repka (Phyllis) of Victoria; sister-in-law, Gail Repka of Victoria; 3 nieces, Shelly Kneupper (Kenny) of Lockhart, Teara Valenta (Raymond) of Victoria, Jessical Wimberly (Jay) of Inez; nephew, John Stanford (Tiffany)of Luling. Parents-in-laws, Leo and Rosie Repka of Victoria which Chester said “I was so blessed; both of you love me as one of your own children, my whole life you were always there for me, till my last day on earth. You are wonderful people, Bless you both.
A special thanks to Twin Pines Nursing Home for the caring for Chester through the years. The kitchen staff for your awesome chicken salad sandwiches he loved. Maggie and Himie, his guardian angels, keep the parties going. Hospice of South Texas, thank you all for your kindness and special care. Dr. Whitehouse, you made me believe in miracles. God Is Good All of the Time.
Thanks to all who paid their last respects, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, doctors, nurses and staff. May he rest in peace. Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. Eternal rest grant unto him O’ Lord, let the perpetual light shine upon him.
