

Clarence “Piggy” Spearman, 92, of Victoria, passed away January 6, 2017. Clarence was born October 7, 1924 in Rodessa, Louisiana to the late James Cooper and Oma Sandlin Spearman. Clarence joined the Army in 1943 and served in WWII as a rifleman in Company E 63rd Infantry 6th Division. He served in the Philippines, New Guinea and Luzon. Clarence was awarded the Bronze Star, the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and 2 Purple Heart Medals. Five of the Spearman brothers, including Clarence, served in the military at the same time.
Clarence was very active in his son’s life; he taught Jeff golf, managed his little league baseball team for 5 years and taught his Sunday school for many years. He was a man of great faith and a Godly Christian man. Clarence ministered in nursing homes for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather and Paw-Paw and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Naomi Spearman of Victoria; son, Jeff Spearman (Debra) of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Ryan Spearman (Beth) of Sugarland, TX; Lauren Thurston (Matt) of Austin; great-grandchildren, Ansley and Caleb Spearman and Sam and Violet Thurston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 18 brothers and sisters.
A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 10:30 AM with Pastor JV Helms officiating.
A burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
