Claude Lee Steen was born on March 30, 1932 to Claudie Lee and Mary Will Coppedge Steen in Hochheim, TX. He graduated from Yoakum High School, served in the U. S. Navy, attended University of Texas, Graduated from Victoria College and attended several other colleges.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joel “Coco” Steen.
Claude retired in 1994 as Senior Production Engineer in Energy Systems at Union Carbide (a subsidiary of Dow Chemical) - Seadrift- after 40 years of service. Claude remained active in ranching and had pecan orchards for many years after retirement. For many years he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Delores, with whom he shared 32 beautiful years of marriage. He is also survived by three daughters, who he cherished, Cheryl Garrison (Gary Wayne), Rebecca Adkison (Rodney “Bo”), Rhonda Brzozowske (Paul), niece Leslie Elaine Powers (Don), and nephew, Anthony Jerome Kaiser. Also surviving is six grandchildren-Jenifer Moczygemba (Preston), Logan Garrison (Stephanie), Ben Adkison, Will Adkison, Bethany Brzozowske, and Abigail Brzozowske. Great grandchildren are Corbin Garrison and future grandson Moczygemba.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a 50 year plus Mason. During his and Delores’ marriage, they had opportunities to travel extensively, especially during and after working for 2 years in Saudi Arabia. He and Delores traveled abroad, visited nearly all 50 states and enjoyed going on cruises, especially after retirement. He was always ready for another adventure, and loved the family vacations with the children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Trinity Lutheran Chapel at the corner of DeLeon and Constitution Street. Funeral service will be 10 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Kara Hairell and Mr. Don Angerstein officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers: Roger Immenhauser, Luke DeBord, Kaleb DeBord, Logan Garrison, Preston Moczygemba, and Don Powers.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or American Heart Association.
