Claudia Terhune Joines, 60, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, at her home after a long battle with breast cancer. Claudia was born on July 19, 1951 to Ruby Frith Terhune and the late Lt. Col. Claude Mitchell Terhune. After attending Stephen F. Austin State University she married her college sweetheart, Glenn David Joines on January 4, 1974 in Harlingen, Texas and remained happily married until his death on May 2, 2009. Upon moving to Victoria, Claudia began working at Kamin Furniture in a job she loved for over 37 years in interior design. She loved working with the public and making their house a home with beautiful furnishings and design work. She was truly a woman of class, style, and grace.
Claudia is survived by her only child Lauren Lee Joines and her fiancé Travis Hawes, mother Ruby Frith Terhune, brother Terry (Susan) Terhune, sister Stephanie (Dwayne) Nimerick, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Baylor Clinic and MD Anderson that offered positive encouragement and hope during a battle that Claudia fought until the very end. A very special thank you to the staff of Hospice of South Texas for their warmth and dedication to Claudia and her family during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be performed by Pastor Jim Shamburger, First Baptist Church Victoria, 301 North Glass Street on Thursday, September 8th at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The Dorothy H O’Connor Pet Adoption Center.
