Clay Stewart O’Connor, a devoted husband, father, legendary sports owner, and champion racer, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2026, at the age of 63. He was a force of nature who lived life at full throttle, leaving an undeniable legacy of passion, excellence, and deep love.
Born with a gentle yet competitive spirit, Clay excelled as a racecar driver on the SCCAGT circuit, notably placing 11th in the NASCAR Next Driver Search in the early 1990s. His passion for sports extended to the gridiron as the proud owner of the Austin Rattlers semi-professional football team. Under his leadership, the Rattlers achieved the extraordinary—dominating the league as undefeated, back-to-back national champions.
While his professional accolades were vast, Clay would assert that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He shared a beautiful 41-year relationship with his beloved wife, Cami, spending 31 wonderful years side by side in marriage. Together, they raised their three sons—their prized "Irish triplets"—who were the absolute pride of Clay's life.
Clay is survived by his loving wife, Cami; his sons, Christian (30) and wife Hannah, Miles (29) and wife Lauren, and Steele (28); his mother, Louise O’Connor; his sister, Virginia Lebermann; his brother, Donal Miles; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 6-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, with rosary beginning at 7 PM.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held in honor of Clay's vibrant life. His family requests that he be remembered not with tears, but with the same joy and determination he brought to everyone who knew him.
