

Cleveland Holmes, 71, of Victoria, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009. He was born May 26, 1938 in Hallettsville the son of Jim and Scywillow Barnes Holmes. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Richardson Chapel U.M.C. He is survived by his daughters Carolyn Jones and husband Raynard of Round Rock, Marilyn Kay Holmes of San Antonio and Shelia Holmes of Austin; stepson R. Lee Brown of Victoria; stepdaughters Rita Jackson and Reeva Ross both of Wharton; sisters Elizabeth Lewis of San Antonio, Victory Toland of Austin, Dollie Holmes and Janice Holmes both of Victoria; brother Granvel Holmes of San Antonio. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Virgie Brown. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bernice Wells officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Barnes, David Perez, Dave Mitchell, Oscar Torres, Roy Naranjo, Red McAffee, Larry Girdy, Pete Girdy, Doug Girdy, Charles Goode, Billy Spencer, Bo Crosby and Ralph Williams. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Webster Chapel United Methodist Church Activity Building. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas. Arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home 1801 E.
