Cloetta "Clo" Hill

Cloetta Lois Smith Hill went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Clo, as she liked to be called, was born April 24, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas to Marion Marchman Smith and Olivia Fisher Smith. She graduated from Breckinridge High School in 1954.

She met the love of her life and married Durwood “Woody” Hill July 22, 1955 in San Antonio and celebrated over 55 years of marriage. After a few moves, they settled in Victoria in April 1973 and were members of Baptist Temple Church.

Clo worked for many years at Professional Insurance Agents (now Frost Insurance Agents) as secretary to Alvin Boyd and Hardy McCullough. Clo loved people as she was involved in several dinner clubs, bridge clubs, and a “42” group. She enjoyed spending her time at Rockport with family and friends, and taking trips with church and bank groups.

Clo is survived by a son, Bart Hill and wife, Kathleen; granddaughter, Kayle Hill; sisters, Jean Shwiff and Jane Faucheaux; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close friends she would consider like brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Woody Hill, her parents, and brother, Dewitt Smith.

On this day, Clo would say to everyone not to mourn her death, but to celebrate her life and then to live each day to its fullest for there may never be a tomorrow.

A visitation will be held at 9 am Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel immediately followed by the funeral service at 10 am officiated by the Rev. J. V. Helms. The Hill family would like to thank everyone who have helped care for Clo over the last several years. You have helped make her life more comfortable.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Smith, Danny Smith, Allen Jones, Harold Howe, Ron Dickson and LeRoy Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are all of Clo’s family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (www.parkinson.org), or a charity of choice.
