Cruz Suniga Sr., 74, passed away April 3, 2019. He was born May 3, 1944 in Matagorda County to Sallie Garza Mendez of Sweeny. He was a self-employed builder and contractor. Cruz was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Suniga of Inez; mother, Sallie Garza Mendez of Sweeny; daughters, Liza Scarborough of Victoria, Connie Suniga of Inez and Theresa Suniga of Victoria; sons, Ernest Mendoza Jr. of Victoria, Bernard Mendoza of Inez and Cruz Suniga Jr. of Victoria; sisters, Gloria Odell, Paula Rodriguez, Sandy Valle and Frances Gonzales; brothers, Les Mendez and Sylvester; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Ben Mendez.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels and a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10 am at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
