Darrell Gene Mooney was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 1, 2024. His legacy as a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, father-in-law, friend, and community member will be felt in years to come, and his family will remember and honor his memory.
He was born on November 8, 1953, in Waco, TX, and was preceded in death by Gene and Doris Mooney (Burger). While his father was in the Air Force, he traveled worldwide before calling Victoria, Texas, home. He successfully ran his father’s business, Gene Mooney Chemicals, for 35 years before quietly retiring in 2017.
Darrell is survived by his devoted wife, Mary T Mooney (Pena); admiring daughters, Melissa Kate Mooney and Melanie Mae Morales (Caesar); four beautiful grandchildren, Aiden (17), Oliver (13), Zoe (7), and Micah (5); and his supportive sisters Lee Ann Lantz and Lisa Underbrink.
We invite you to celebrate his life on his birthday, November 8, 2024, at Rosewood Funeral Home. Public visitation and viewing for friends and family will occur from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Special words from his daughters will follow at 10:30 a.m., and conclude with a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. While the family has a planned program, Darrell would encourage everyone to come and go as they wish.
