David proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. Professionally, he dedicated 10 years of service to the Texas Department of Transportation before embarking on a career with the City of Victoria, where he worked for 17 and a half years as a construction inspector prior to his retirement.
A man of many passions, David was an avid reader who loved diving into western and mystery novels. He had a lifelong appreciation for all types of music and cherished attending live concerts with his brother, Dennis, and his nephews—true to his diverse taste, his very last show was Judas Priest. Above all, David was a devoted dad. Nothing made him happier than cheering on his sons at their sporting events and celebrating the remarkable men they have become today. The absolute light of his life, however, was his grandson, Jack David Jimenez, who brought him immeasurable joy. David leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his family, his community, and his country. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen Hicks Jimenez, his parents, Raphael and Lucia (Lucy) Garza Jimenez, and his brother, Robert Jimenez.
Survived by former spouse and mother of his sons, Jacqueline Torres, his sons, Jeremy Joe Jimenez (Janely) and Jonathan David Jimenez (Jocelyn); his sisters, Sylvia Salazar (Leon), Sandra Jimenez (Tracy); his brothers, Dennis Jimenez (Ruby), Rudolph Jimenez (Dora), Pat Canales; and his grandson, Jack David Jimenez.
Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 704 Mallette Dr, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 9:00 am, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.
A graveside with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Salazar, Lee Salazar, Robert Jimenez, Mark Jimenez, Christopher Jimenez, Cody Jimenez, Juan Flores and Adrian Canas.
