Dewitt Otto Johnson

Dewitt “Buck” O. Johnson, age 64, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011. He was born May 3, 1947 in Corpus Christi to the late Frank Dewitt and Lula Mae Vick Johnson. He lived in Telferner for many years before retiring and moving to Palacios. As a lifelong cowboy, Buck enjoyed the outdoors. He was a great horseman, and a member of the Old Chisholm Trail Riders. He was a Christian and his church affiliation was Full Gospel. He was a truck driver, and had worked for Q V Services before retirement.

He is survived by his sisters, Luann Singleton and Ruby Rogers both of San Antonio, and Sue Hadley of Palacios; numerous nieces and nephews; and his lifelong dear friends, Terry Whitaker of Port Lavaca and Fred Gorbett of Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Hunnicutt Johnson; sister, Darlene Nesloney; and brother, Leslie Johnson.

Visitation will be held 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services with a horse drawn carriage will follow at Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryce Moreland, Derek Moreland, Elisha Flores, Steven Sosa, Anthony Peeples, David Arias, and Zackary Rogers. Honorary pallbearers include Chuck Rogers, Terry Whitaker, and Fred Gorbett.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) or to donor’s choice.
