Dolores Yvonne Downs passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. She was born in Yoakum, Lavaca County, Texas on January 6, 1941 to the late Herman G. Botard and Ethel Burris Botard. After graduating high school in Hallettsville, Dolores settled in Victoria, Texas where she raised a family, was an employee of Victoria Bank & Trust, held several positions with area doctors and owned her own employment agency. She was a devout Christian woman and last attended Lifepointe Church in Victoria where she had many friends. She fought a spirited battle with Alzheimer’s and through it all never lost her “spunk” and fortitude that we all knew and loved her for.
Survivors include her daughter Dawn Marti and husband Ric, of Hideaway, Texas; son Michael Downs and wife Alicia of Bentonville, Arkansas; son Ben Downs and wife Lisa of Victoria, Texas and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin Ray Downs; sister, Bettye Timm of Hallettsville and brother Herman Botard, Jr. of Houston.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 9-11 am at the Lifepointe Church, 8150 Nursery Drive, Victoria with the funeral service to begin at 11 AM. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm at the Hallettsville City Cemetery, 1447-1441 Cemetery Road, Hallettsville, TX.
