Dee was born on August 26, 1955, in Victoria to William D. Welder and Jeanne Muske Welder. She was a graduate of Saint Agnes Academy in Houston and attended college at Savannah Institute in Atlanta, GA. During her life she lived in Victoria, Houston, Austin, Colorado, Dallas, and then completed the full circle back to Victoria for the last 14 years of her life.
She was a rancher and a partner in JF Welder Heirs, and a direct descendent of James Power, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Dee’s special love was Vidauri. In addition she enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, animals, attending Refugio Bobcat football games, and decorating the house and yard for the various seasons. She participated in numerous volunteer activities with a special interest in helping those in need. She was a member of the FBI (Female Bonding Institute) with several of her friends and met monthly for lunch to solve world problems. She was very close to her pets; including cats Itty Bitty, Boogar Boy, Mr. Peabody, and the family frog, Clyde.
She was preceded in death by her father, William D. Welder and her mother, Jeanne Muske Welder.
She is survived by her loving companion, William E. Thomas; sisters, Carol J. Welder Katie W. Stewart and Victoria Welder Hyatt; brothers, William D. Welder Jr., Brian E. Welder and Scott D. Welder; nieces and nephews, Trey, Will, Kristin, Kara, Jenny, Christy, Becky, Jamie and Diana; goddaughter, Spencer Streetman, as well as many other family members and close friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Monday, October 11, 2010, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Rev. Bur Dobbins officiating.
