Dorothy Fay Simek, 95, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 14 2026. She was born on January 2, 1931, in Cabeza, Texas. Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late William Jennings Bryant Butler and Melba Lee Burt Butler.
Dorothy found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, and caring for her plants; she had a true “green thumb.” Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and took great happiness in bringing everyone together to share meals, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on for generations.
A devoted member of Our Lady of Victory, Dorothy was active in the Our Lady of Victory Altar Society and the Our Lady of Victory Quilters. She especially looked forward to gathering with her quilting friends each Wednesday. She was also a long-time employee of Bealls, where she made many lifelong friendships.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Becky Hilton and her husband Howard, Carla Moody and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Clinton Hilton and his wife, Paige, Brock Moody and his wife, Amanda, Garrett Moody and his wife, Jessica, and her great-grandchildren, Carter Hilton, Everly Moody, Gavyn Moody, Dylan Moody, Isla Moody, and Mara Moody.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gilbert Hale Simek; and her brothers, W.E. “Buck” Butler and John C. Butler.
