

Doye Ray Bridges, M.D., 84, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011. He was born April 10, 1927, in Corsicana to the late Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Bridges. He grew up in Pampa where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Dr. Bridges was a graduate of Texas A & I University and Baylor University. He served his country in the United States Navy. His internship was in Betheseda, Maryland; his residency was completed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Dr. Bridges practiced medicine in Victoria from 1958-2000, and delivered over 8,000 babies. He was Chief of Staff at both Detar Hospital and Citizens Memorial Hospital in Victoria.
Prior to his death he resided with his wife, Ginger, in Manvel.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Reginald C. Bridges.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ginger Bridges; sister, Neldine Matusevich; five children, Randy, Cindy, Ray, Denise and Donna; 10 grandchildren, Katharine Jennifer, Vanessa, Nyomi, Ryan, Taylor, Carson, Zachary, Zoe and Zia; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, Rev. Donald Blavier officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Victoria Veterans Council.
