Edward was a proud Veteran who served his country in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Matula Calibrations, where he continued serving his oilfield customers until his passing. Edward never met a stranger and always welcomed people with a smile and his beautiful blue eyes. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle around town, stopping to visit with friends and anyone willing to share a conversation. He never turned down a gambling trip to a casino and especially enjoyed going with family.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Machart Matula; daughters, Monica Hons and husband Gary, Amanda Matula, and Jennifer Sneed; grandchildren, Karlee, Paige, Laney, Reece, Karis, Brayden, Brody, and Baylee; sister, Connie Matula Sorrels; brothers, Pat Matula and wife Elise, and half-brother Floyd Nelson and wife Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Robert Nelson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Edward will be honored with Full Military Honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council at 5:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or a local VFW Post.
