Elizabeth Stockbauer, 103 years old, from Victoria, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2024 in Bastrop, Texas. Elizabeth was born in Nursery, Texas to Eleanora and Edmund Nitschmann on February 20, 1921. She married Fred Stockbauer on June 20, 1938. They had four children, Fred, Roger, Bette and Don.
Elizabeth was an artist and became known in Victoria for the beautiful nature scenes she would paint, particularly those of the live oak trees that grew in the area. She was also a genealogist and put together a collection of letters from the family’s Czech ancestors who immigrated to central Texas. That collection is the subject matter of a book written by a university teacher in Prague.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband and oldest son, Fred, She is survived by her daughter, Bette, two sons, Roger and Don, her sister, Rose, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 1:30 pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2 pm, all at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.
