

Emmett Eugene (Gene) Terry, 92, of Victoria passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was born November 17, 1923 in San Saba, Texas to the late Emmett D. and Opal Senterfitt Terry. Gene served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was a master air craft mechanic, serving in Algeria and Italy. He was a member of VFW Post 8539 in Lampasas and American Legion Post 277. Gene also retired after 19 years as a power plant operator at the University of Texas in Austin. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Dorothy Terry Tyler of Victoria and Joanne Terry and her partner, Mark Jewell, of Austin; grandchildren Erin Reininger and husband, Eric, and Meredith Tyler; great-grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Quimby, Sydney Anne and Liam Reininger.
In addition to his parents Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Velma Ruth Taylor Terry, a sister, Faye Hawkins, a brother, Robert Lee Terry and step-father, L. B. Priddy.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Graveside services with flag folding and taps will be at 2:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Harmony Ridge Cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Harmony Ridge Cemetery Fund, the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of South Texas.
