Ernest Yanes Delgado, 77, of Nixon, went to be with the Lord Jesus on November 1, 2023, in Kyle, Texas. Ernest was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI to the late Louisa Yanes and Santos Delgado on October 7, 1946
Ernest served as a Medic in Vietnam in the United States Army and received a National Defense Service metal, Vietnam Service medal W/2 Bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/1960 Device, Combat Medical Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm Bronze Star medal, Good Conduct medal (1st award), 2 Overseas Bars, Marksman (M-14), and Expert (M-16).
Ernest is survived by his daughter, Michelle Delgado- Bartay (James) and son, Ernest Delgado Jr. (Brandi); grandchildren, Tristan Carter, Bella Delgado, Quentin Delgado and Ravief Delgado; sisters, Dora Croft (Billy) of Nixon, Lucy Longoria of Seguin, and Johnny Solis (Lola) of Dallas; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Ernest was a man of a few words whose actions spoke volumes. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and all things football, was proud of being a Vietnam veteran, loved spending time with his family and friends, and ultimately, adored his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1pm at Faith Family Church.
Inurnment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
The family request that in honor of our dad, the option to wear Dallas Cowboy or Army veteran attire is welcome on his “day!”
