

Ethel M. Sandhop Beck, 87, of Victoria passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her home. She was born on February 22, 1928 in Victoria to the late Henry and Lucille Stubbs Sandhop. Ethel graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1945 and attended Victoria College. She retired after many years as a staff accountant for Moore, Goldman and Hunt. Ethel along with her husband, Leroy was a long-time Victoria ranching family.
She was very active in the community as a member of the Currer Bell Study Club, Morning Study Club, Past President’s Club, Bon Aire Garden Club, Victoria Crossroads China Painting, she was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Church Council, sponsor of Luther League, Altar Guild and Lutheran Church Women. Mrs. Beck received the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award. For the last seventeen years she, along with her family hosted the Victoria Rotary Club Charity Gun Shoot in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra Beck; son, Dr. John Beck both of Victoria; sisters, Janett Scherer of Victoria, Linda (Mike) Shelton of Houston; grandchildren, Laurie Beck Yoast, John William Beck, III and two great grandchildren, Jack and Molly Yoast.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her step-mother, Agnes Gillig Sandhop, her husband of thirty-nine years, Leroy C. Beck (1986) and two sisters, Gladys Kocian Holy and Mary Lucille Moore.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be 10 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Scherer, Jr., John Beck III, Josh Yoast , Calvin Scherer, Travis Scherer, Brad Scherer and Josh Shelton.
