Our beloved mother Ethel Lenora Fikac, 64, was called to our Lord on April 3, 2017. She was born December 16, 1952 in Glen Rogers, West Virginia to the late Henry Luther and Dessie Jones Richardson. She was a diet tech for over 30 years at Regional and Detar Hospital and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez. She was courageous and unwavering in her spirit and faith even during her 2 year battle with lung disease.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with and enjoying her family and friends’ company. She absolutely loved the many adventures and road trips with her sisters or who she called my companions for life. She was a mother, wife, sister, grandma, aunt, friend, world traveler, healer, fierce competitor of board games, bingo playing, your ace in the hole, your best backup, the warmest hug giver and had a smile that would truly light up the room. In all honesty just too many things to list. Saying that she touched many lives is an understatement, she not only touched but changed all of our lives for the better. If you were lucky enough to be around her she would just grab you and take you along, giving you a front seat in her amazing journey through life. The kind words or gestures that she gave were not orchestrated it was just her normal behavior, making you feel welcomed was a natural side effect of just being around her. It has been said many times before but when it came to Ethel to know her was to truly love her. Because of her we will all live richer lives and hopefully be able to follow her path in making everyone smile a little bigger, shine a little brighter and always live life to the fullest. She was the glue that kept our family together and we all have been so blessed to have her in our lives. Thank you, Mama for filling us with love and for all the wonderful adventures and memories that will last a lifetime. Keep us warm with your smile and blanket us with your presence in our dreams. LOVE YOU MORE!
