Evelyn "Bernice" Drost

Evelyn Bernice Drost, 92, of Victoria, Texas passed away on May 2, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on March 10, 1933, in Yoakum, Texas to Edward Joseph Baros and Matilda Orsak Baros. She was married on February 15, 1954, to George Everett Drost at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Victoria and is still a member today.

Bernice is survived by her children: Susan Cooper (Cliff), Dr. James Drost (Beverly), Marian Hogan (Richard), Ed Drost, and Thomas Drost (Kelly)

Her grandchildren: Bobby Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Yvette Snead, Dr. Courtney Welch, Tina Drost, Erin Wagner, Robert Thomas, Patrick Passmore, Lauren De Leon, Matthew Miller, EJ Drost, Sydney Sek, and Taylor Drost

Her sisters: Marie Jacobs and Martha Valenta

She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

One of Mom’s greatest joys was fishing with her family at the Hoff Hilton. She and dad always had a garden, and she loved canning the vegetables they grew, loved listening to Elvis Presley, scrap booking, collecting TY babies, and sewing. Every year she helped making cornbread dressing for the church festival, and working the serving line.

She was a member of the Women’s Altar Society at church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George Drost, sisters Barbara Pratka and Polly Roznovsky.

The Pallbearers are Bobby Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Patrick Passmore, EJ Drost, Daniel Roznovsky and Mike Venglar.

The visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home at 1801 E. Red River in Victoria, Texas from 5 – 7 pm with reciting of the Rosary at 7 pm all on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, located at 105 N. William Street, in Victoria, Texas at 10 am on Friday, May 9, 2025. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery located at 8819 US 87, Victoria, Texas.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gorouhi and staff, Dr. Copeland and staff, Citizens Radiology department, Infusion department, and Hospice of South Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bernice’s memory may be made to Hospice of South Texas or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
