On Wednesday morning August 16, 2023, Fabian Joseph Opiela, 88 gained his heavenly wings. Fabian was born in Gillett, to Mary Ann (Felux) and Joseph Opiela on April 27, 1935. Fabian graduated from Falls City High School in 1954 and attended St.Mary’s University.
He worked for many years in parts for Taft Implement Company, Atzenhoffer, John Deere and Gulf Truck and Tractor in Victoria TX, where he resided for the last 58 years.
On September 27,1969 he married the love of his life Peggy Ibrom of Yorktown. Together they had two children Michael (Christi) Opiela of Yoakum and Jennifer (Chris) Bridges of Weesatche. Fabian is survived by his wife, children, and their spouses. Fabian, will also be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren Lizzy (Jacoby) Pennington of Goliad, Tyler Opiela, Ceye Bridges, Freya Bridges, Elo Bridges and 1 great grandson Kolby Pennington. He is also survived by his sister Christine Kolodziej of Stockdale, and brother and sister in law Janie and Harlan Afflerbach of Brenham and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Ella Dryzmal, Tillie Fogelle, Adrian Opiela, Leonard Opiela, and Walter Opiela and brothers in law Joe Kolodziej and John Dryzmal.
Fabian loved God, his family and gardening. He will be missed most for his infectious smile and chipper outlook on life. His “Hi Hi” will also be greatly missed by family and friends. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 40 years.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30AM on Saturday August 26, 2023 and memorial services to follow at Rosewood Funeral Chapel at 10AM. A private burial to follow.
