

Francisco F. Garza, 89, of Victoria, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010. He was born January 8, 1921, in Mission Valley to the late Luis and Guadalupe Fuentes Garza. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
He retired from the City of Victoria in 1986 upon completing 33 years of service with the Street Department. Affectionately known as “Panchito,” his passion for driving continued well after retirement.
He was devoted to family, loved his wife, children and their families dearly. He was very special to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Escalona Garza; children: Gloria Garza-Gomez (Joe) of Victoria, Hope Garza Verdi (Mario) of McAllen, Consuelo Garza Gamez (David) of Victoria, Anna Garza Salazar (Robert) of San Antonio, Lucy Garza Soliz (Ray) of Brownsville, Frank L. Garza (Roseann) of McAllen, Christopher Garza of San Antonio and Kimberly Garza-Barnes (Robert) of San Antonio; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: sisters and brothers: Leonor Rios, Carmen Gamez, Antonia Galvan, Louisa Garza, Albino Garza, Jesus Garza, and Paz Martinez.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Colonial Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Friday, April 9, 2010, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (208 W. River St., Victoria, Tx 77901), with Rev. Juan Antonio Perez officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mario Verdi, Robert Salazar, Ray Soliz, Robert Barnes, Richard Gamez, and Robert Rodriquez. Honorary pallbearers include Joe G. Gomez, David Gamez, Stephen Soliz, Philip Hernandez, and Ralph Tijerina.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
