Marie was born November 8, 1938, in Victoria, Texas, to the late Floyd and Gladys Whitfield. Her family soon moved to Bloomington where she would live until she needed to move to a memory care home in June 2018. She married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Gideon, in 1957. They were married for 54 beautiful years. They had three children. Loving family well was always a priority.
Marie was a devoted Christian and loved her God and served Him with all her being. She loved serving at First Baptist Church Bloomington in any way she could. She served by teaching young children in Sunbeams, a missions organization for children, establishing and running a library for the church, practicing hospitality, and so many other ways.
She loved children and often provided childcare in her home. She loved children and often provided childcare in her home. She also decorated for weddings with her sister-in-law, Connie, with their business, Weddings for You.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Gladys Whitfield of Bloomington, TX; brother Floyd Wayne Whitfield of Corpus Christi, TX; and by her husband, Tommy E. Gideon of Bloomington, TX.
Marie is survived by her children: Tammy (Jeff) McGee, Darlene (Dan) Blanton, and Dale (Steven) Gideon; her brother, Darrell (Connie); as well as by her 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Bloomington on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery.
