Gladys Marie Nelson (Nee Jaschke), daughter of Armin H. and Sophie Jaschke, went home to be with her Savior on October 11, 2025, following complications from a fall and head injury. She was surrounded by her loving family and was joyful in her final days. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald O.C. Nelson, as well as her brothers Lavern Jaschke and Melvin Jaschke.
Gladys was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. Although unable to attend in recent years, she was very appreciative of the loving support received from members.
Gladys is survived by her children, Gary Nelson, Sharon Nelson, and Janis Smith, and grandchildren Rebecca Stoltz, Robert Nelson, and Nathan Tisdale. She is also survived by her Great-Grandchildren Grace Nelson, Kathryn Stoltz, Samuel Stoltz, Seth Tisdale and Shiloh Tisdale.
Gladys was born and raised in the Victoria area where she attended the Lutheran Church in Coletoville. After leaving Victoria, she attended Texas University in Austin, where she met her husband, Donald O.C. Nelson while working at a movie theater. Gladys worked at Texas Instruments in the Houston and Dallas areas during the 1970s and 1980s . When both Don and Gladys retired, they moved to the Victoria area. Before her final retirement, Gladys worked at Victoria College as an Administrative Assistant.
