Harold honored his country by serving in the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged later worked for forty years for Exxon Mobil and retired as a field foreman.
Harold and Patsy were members of Baptist Temple dedicating many years of service to their church.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Patricia Mabry Howe; sons, Clay Howe (Heather) of Frisco, Rick Smart (Jackie) of Austin; daughter Jan Wall (Joe) of Victoria; sister Carolyn Jones of Crawford; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Riley Howe and Ruth Manning James, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Smart; sister, Hazel Sanders and his brother, Tom James.
A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Harold’s name be directed to Dorothy O’Connor Pet Adoption Center, 135 Progress Drive, Victoria, TX 77905.
