

Harvey joined the U.S. Navy on June 22, 1942, served during World War II as a 1st Machinist Mate aboard the USS Charles Ausburne DD570 Flag Ship, he served under 31 Knot Burke in Little Beaver Squadron and was Honorably Discharged in November 1945. During his service he received the Presidential Unit Citation, 3 Silver Battle Stars and numerous Battle Engagements Ribbons.
Mr. Summers lived in Pearsall, was a watermelon farmer, an auto mechanic and the Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for Schlumberger in 1952 in Pleasanton, Falfurrias and Victoria, retiring after thirty-three years of service. Harvey and Irene moved to Granite Shoals, Texas, on the lake LBJ to enjoy their golden years.
On January 28, 1946, Harvey married Irene E. Williams, and they were married for fifty-five years, before her passing in 2001.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna May Luster of Victoria; sons, Harvey N. Summers, Jr. of Mansfield, TX and Wally M. (Lori) Summers of Victoria; grandchildren, Donald Luster, Monica Maloney, Aaron Summers, Steven Summers, Michaela Wagner; great grandchildren, Meghan Maloney, Kellie Maloney, Garrett Maloney, Atalanta Summers, Autumn Summers, Wyatt Summers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 6-8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Mr. Rick Larsen officiating. Graveside services with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Barrett, Lance Prine, Terry Smith, Buddy Perkins, Roger Weppler and Steve Gele. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Maloney, Donald Luster, Aaron Summers and Steven Summers.
