Helen moved to Victoria at age five and built her life here. She was a graduate of Patti Welder High School; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; dear friend; Sunday School teacher; world traveler; avid reader; writer; quilter; insurance agent and homemaker.
Helen married the love of her life, Turney William Crawford, on July 2, 1946 at First Baptist Church of Victoria, where they were active members for 52 years. In 1993, they became charter members of Parkway Church, where they served faithfully ever since.
Helen’s life centered around her faith, family, and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed hosting family gatherings on holidays, family reunions and friends in the home she and Turney built on the Crawford ranch, established by Turney’s great-grandfather in 1892. She especially loved the five years they hosted Christmas in the Woods at the ranch where thousands of Parkway members and visitors experienced the miracle of Christmas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband; brother, Joseph Clarence Blodgett; daughter, Carren Campbell, and her husband, Marc.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Crawford, and his wife, Kathy of Sugar Land; her daughter, Susan Campbell, and her husband, Corey of Victoria; grandchildren, Amy Arnold and her husband, Jack, Cory Campbell, Jenna Taylor and her husband, Richard, Jr., Chris Campbell and his wife, Bethany, and Andrew Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Richard III and Annabelle Taylor. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Marian Cole, her husband Jim, of Victoria, and their children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, at Rosewood Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at Parkway Church with Pastor Mike Hurt officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
