Henry graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1961, where he was known as an outstanding athlete. He continued his education at Ranger College, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force.
Following his military service, Henry worked at Miori Plumbing before beginning a long career with DuPont as a heavy equipment operator. During his time with DuPont, he also played slow-pitch softball for the company team. The team won the Texas State Tournament two years and advanced to the National Tournament once. Henry retired from DuPont after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the VFW, Sons of Hermann Lodge #265, and Knights of Columbus Council #1329.
Next to his love for Our Lord was Henry’s deep love for his family. Henry enjoyed hunting deer, hogs, and turkey, making sausage, as well as fishing, camping, woodworking, and gardening. He spent many hours running trotlines on the Guadalupe and Navidad rivers with family and friends. He grew the most beautiful vegetables and, although he hardly ate any of them himself, he enjoyed canning pickles and sauerkraut, his friends and family greatly enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He also cherished taking his mother to the fish camp on the Navidad River, where they would fish, and he would hunt.
Henry was a faithful servant in his church community. While at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher, helped with the Catholic Youth Organization, and contributed to the church festival by cooking and making wood items. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he served as a CCD teacher and was on the Parish Council.
Henry is survived by his two daughters, Kristy Holly and husband Doyle, and Theresa Serna, all of Victoria; three grandchildren, Dawson Holly, Karson Holly and Samantha Serna; his brother, Bill Schramek and wife Joy; and sister-in-law, Jean Schramek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Schramek, and his brother, George A. Schramek.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 5-7PM, with rosary beginning at 7PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10am at St Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Holly, Dawson Holly, Karson Holly, Steven Schramek, Colby Schramek, Seith Plummer, Jeff Holly, and Scott Holly. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Schramek, Douglas Mangini, Lloyd West, and Roy Allen Koenning. Honorary pallbearers in Memoriam George A. Schramek, Edward Strnad, George Sumbera and Donnie Kinnison.
