

Herman John Krehmeier, Jr. of Victoria, passed away on August 14, 2016. The son of Herman John Krehmeier, Sr. and Aline Salziger Krehmeier Munsch, Herman was born in Victoria on November 15, 1925. Family and friends remember Herman as a kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and friend, committed to his faith and proud of his service in the Marine Corps, the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department and of his work as a home builder. He graduated from Patti Welder High School and enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1943 and saw combat as a member of the 2nd Marine Division in the Asian Pacific Theater prior to his discharge in 1946. Following a time with the City of Victoria and the SP Railroad, Herman spent over 40 years in the construction business with Temple Lumber, Foreman Brothers Construction and Zarsky Lumber Company. An active member of the Victoria Association of Homebuilders for many years, he served a term as president. Starting in 1991 he enjoyed 25 years of retirement with family and friends, caring for his yard and pecan trees, traveling and continuing his woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Marie Schobel Krehmeier; his children, Linda Krehmeier of Tomball, Karen Dabney (Glen) of Monticello, AR, and Thomas Krehmeier (Lynetta) of Houston; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Betty Bruner and Mary Aline Lassmann, both of Victoria. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his son, David, a step-father, Emile Munsch and an infant brother.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Vigil to begin at 7 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Foreman, Staff Sgt. Kelly Dabney, Kevin Mann, Bob Palmertree, John Krehmeier, Russell Lassmann, Jim Bruner, Jeff Krehmeier and Michael Reedy.
Memorial donations may be made to The Incarnate Word Convent, Eternally We Build Our Lady of Victory Church or donor’s choice.
