

Howard D. Evans, 85, of Victoria passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. Howard was born November 7, 1924, in Lockhart to the late James C. Evans and Edna Mae Holcombe Evans. Howard was a graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, and was a retired accountant. He proudly served his country in both the United States Air force and the United States Navy. He participated in the invasion of Italy during WW II, and also served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Howard was also a professional boxer in his early years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Urban Evans of Victoria; daughter, Pricilla Baldwin (Bill) of Emory; son, Mike Evans (Susan) of Missouri City; brother, William Evans of San Antonio; grandchildren, Todd Sneed, Chad Sneed, Amy Segler, Bonnie Riley, Christine Klahn, Chelli (Evans) Bryson, Lori Evans and Greg Evans; 9 Great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Alma Evans Webb, Zula Belle Brackett and Mildred Evans Anderson; 4 brothers, James Evans, Jeff Evans, Benjamin Evans and William Evans.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from 6 to 8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 10 am at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
