James (Jim) Irvin Badgett, 83 of Victoria passed away on March 8, 2024, in Victoria, TX with his loving wife April and his grandson and great-grandson, Brandon and Kahler by his side. Jim was born to the late Gladys Ruth (Brown) and David Woodrow Badgett on August 20, 1940, and was raised in Floydada, TX.
Jim began his career as an Industrial Engineer with Alcoa and later was vice president of Newman Production Company (Alcoa’s Oil and Gas Div) Jim valued hard work and in his younger days he had a hobby of working on vintage cars, passed down from his grandfather. He also loved being on the water and could be found on his boat where he liked to water ski and fish.
Jim was a golfer and at Riverside Golf Course his group was known as The Badgett Open. He also enjoyed the Sunday crossword puzzle. He made it a priority to keep romance alive and was deeply in love with his wife of 38 years. April, who said that he was the love of her life and the hero of the family from his sister down to his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife April (McKamey; Wakefield), his children, Kay Lynne Badgett of Easthampton, MA, Jamie Lee (David) Markwardt of Hickory Creek, TX, Wesley Wakefield of Victoria, TX, Brenton Wakefield of Victoria, TX; sister Suzie Goen of San Antonio; nine grandchildren Brandon, Courtney, Garrett, Zackery, Kenzie, Jacob, Chelsey, Luke and Alexis and three great-grandchildren Calvin, Maeve, and Kahler.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Badgett.
Pallbearers are Wesley Wakefield, Brenton Wakefield, Garrett Wakefield, Brandon Wakefield, Zachery Markwardt, and Jake Markwardt.
An acknowledgment and thanks to Jim’s physician, Dr. Sundeep Lal, who kept him in a good state of health for years with his special care.

Please join us in celebrating Jim’s life at the visitation which will be this Thursday afternoon, March 14, 2024, between 4-6 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, 3304 E. Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, TX, and the graveside service will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery from HWY 87, FM 1679, Port Lavaca, TX.
