

James “Jim” Cervantes, age 74, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012. He was born September 26, 1937 in Shaw, Mississippi to the late Lorenzo and Guadalupe Escalona Cervantes. He was a mechanic, and the owner and operator of Jim’s Brake Service. Jim enjoyed fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Martinez of Victoria; daughter, Lisa Gaye Cervantes Zovishlack of Kissimi, Florida; sons, James Cervantes Jr. and w wife Debbie of Chapel Hills, Tennessee and Michael Wayne Cervantes and wife Debbie of West Branch, Michigan; brothers, Joe Cervantes of Victoria, Manuel Cervantes of Flint, Michigan, Steve Cervantes of Yorktown, and Charlie Cervantes of Devine, Texas; sisters, Olivia Vasquez of Washington; four grandchildren, Zachary and Lindsay Zovishlack, Shauna Cervantes, and Tia Cervantes; and two great grandchildren, Shannon Cervantes and Morgan Cervantes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joshua James Cervantes; brother, Lorenzo Cervantes; and sisters, Delores Prado and Blanche Gibson.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, and graveside services will follow at 12 Noon Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Manuel Cervantes, Joe Cervantes, Charlie Cervantes, Steve Cervantes, Hector Quentanilla and David Montes.
