

Jan K. Thurman, age 75, of Victoria went to meet his Lord Tuesday, January 20, 2015, after a long struggle with leukemia, heart and lung complications. He was born July 3, 1939 in La Grange, Texas, to the late Gilbert Ray and Virginia Richter Thurman. Jan worked as a funeral director for 10 years and as a State Farm Insurance Agent for 32 years. He loved to play golf with his many friends at Riverside golf course. He loved life and spending time with his friends, playing games, dancing to country and western music and at the Dacosta Dance Club. Jan was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
He leaves behind his wife, Elaine Thurman of Victoria; daughter, Rhonda Thurman of Houston; son, Mitchell (Stephanie) Thurman of Victoria; granddaughter, Hailey Kay; brother Gilbert Ray (Twila) Thurman of La Grange.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels on Thursday, January 22, 2015.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, January 23, 2015, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Rev. John Waak officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Carroll, Larry Volkmer, Russell Pruitt, Bob Schramek, Bob Blevins, Al Meyer, Dewane Schneider and Felton Dohmann.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Motley, Shott Motley, Jim Badgett, Bob Mahaffey, Skip Bailey, Don Richards, Mark and Terry Walton, Steve Beller, Phil Simms, Mickey Daughtery, O'Neal Murray, Jeff New, Dr. Swinford Wilson and all Riverside golfing buddies.
