Jerome P. “Jerry” Faskas, 65, of Victoria, passed away May 20, 2017 after a 12-year battle with ALS. Jerry was born June 26, 1951 in Orange, Calif. to the late Paul Steven Faskas and Betty Lou Lehman Kuhljuergen. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era, and wore his Corps hat the rest of his days.
His greatest love was for the Lord and telling people the good news of Jesus. His greatest pride in life was his family, especially his grandsons Gunnar and Alex, whom he loved to spoil. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and sportsman.
Jerry was an entrepreneur his entire life. He built custom homes, owned an air-freight business, invested in real estate, and owned and operated rent houses among many other business endeavors. He was a self-made man whose humble beginnings led him to grow into a pennywise individual who was highly respected in his community.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Miller Faskas; daughter, Rebecca M. Linch (Michael); sons David B. Faskas and Jerome P. Faskas, Jr. (Gretchen), both of Victoria; brothers Dan Cook and Don Cook of Nevada, John Osburn of South Carolina, Kim Kuhljuergen of Arizona, one sister, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
