Jerry Nathan Brown

Jerry Nathan Brown, 78 of Victoria passed away on Monday, September 07, 2015. He was born October 8, 1936 in Minden, Nebraska to Harry and Leanna Anderson Brown. Jerry was a graduate of University of Nebraska and later was inducted into the University of Nebraska Football Hall of Fame. He received the Tom Novak award for outstanding senior player in 1957. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Hermann Hospital School of Physical Therapy and pioneered the opening of the Physical Therapy Department at DeTar Hospital where he was employed for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Annette Porter Brown; daughter, Tonja Brown Patterson; son, Ky Porter Brown both of Victoria; brother, Giles Brown of Grand Island, NE and two grandchildren, Lily Marie Patterson and Aubrey Lyn Patterson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Marie Brown and a sister, Dionne Schwenke.

Private family burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial service will be 10 AM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with a visitation to follow.

Pallbearers will be Joe Cohen, Dr. Fred Lykes, Dr. Ellwood Ernst, John Elmore, Bruce Ryan, John Hooper, Tommy Thompson, Emil Ganem and Ross Mansker.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Hospice of South Texas or Bluebonnet Youth Ranch.
