John grew up in Victoria, Texas and graduated from Stroman High School, Class of 1970. He married his soulmate, Olga Ramirez Lopez, on February 15, 1971 and shared a devoted loving marriage of 48 years. John worked at Shell Oil in Deer Park, Texas and successfully retired, after 37 years serving as a Chemical Operator. John had a passion for music, traveling, sports and his beloved Harley, where he enjoyed taking long rides on beautiful days.
John leaves behind his loving bride Olga, two beautiful daughters Jennifer Lopez Mitchell (Brian) and Melissa Leigh Lopez, as well as his cherished granddaughters Tawney Alyse, Lauren Elizabeth, Lexie Abigail and grandson Mason (finally getting his boy after a houseful of girls) numerous nieces and nephews, all who meant the world to him.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday March 24, 2019 with Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria, Texas. Christian Burial Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday, March 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church also in Victoria, Tx. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Magallan, Michael Magallan, Rolando Ramirez, Carlos Torres, Brian Mitchell and Gilbert Carrisalez. Honorary Pallbearers will be his fellow musicians, his work family from Shell, as well as his fellow bikers.
