Joyce M. Cowan Henneke, 71, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018. She was born February 26, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Donald John and Marie Elizabeth Mulcare Cowan. Joyce retired from VISD after a forty year teaching career. She demonstrated her passion for teaching as she continued to substitute after her retirement. Joyce was a Master Gardener and would eagerly share her expertise with fellow gardeners. She was active in many ministries at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church including The Pantry, Sr. Choir and Transition Team. She loved her dog, Spud, The University of Texas and enjoyed camping. However, her favorite activity was baking and making memories with her granddaughters.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence “Larry” E. Henneke, Jr. of Victoria; daughter, Lisa Verret and husband, Mark, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, Kevin Henneke of Burnet; granddaughters, Elisabeth M. Verret and Samantha L. Verret; sister, Carol M. Scoggins of Henderson; and cousin, Pat Troxell of Willistan, Vermont.
Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Ray Hagan officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Henneke, Mark Verret, Gerald Merks, Buck Dabney, Debbie Krueger, Brett Ckodre and Steve Fiedler.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
