Juan J. Rivera, age 78, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, surrounded by those who love him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and a deep love for his family.
Juan proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of duty and resilience. Following his military service, he dedicated 43 years of his life to the United States Postal Service. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in serving his community—neither snow, nor rain, nor heat.
Above all else, Juan was a family man. His sense of humor, quiet strength, and steady support will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
He will be remembered for his faithful service to his country, his dedication to his work, and the life he lovingly built and shared with his wife.
Juan is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his children, Ernesto H. Rivera, Alexia Rivera-Sutton (Stephen), and Zandra H. Rivera (Eric); his grandchildren, Kayla (Lorenzo), Darian, Dallas, Noah “Roly-Poly,” Zane & Dreighton “The Bubbas,” Jacob “Porcupine,” and Sophia; his great-grandchildren, Eliana “Shrimp-o,” Jacob “JR,” Orion, Birdie, Velamiah, Nyla, and Myah; and his brothers, Ramon Rivera (Alicia✟) and Armando Rivera (Yolanda), who all brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nicolasa Rivera, and his sister, Guadalupe Ysias.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dallas Rivera, Noah Torres, Zane Sutton, Dreighton Sutton, Jacob Torres, and Jacob Ramirez.
