Juanita (Nita) Smythe Martin, 89, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Rosenberg, Texas. Nita Martin was born July 4, 1928 in Plainview, Texas. Keith and Nita Martin attended the Nazarene Church. She worked at the City of Amarillo Public Library. Nita will be remembered for many things, especially her loving protection of her husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd (Keith) Martin; her parents, Herschel H. Smythe and Ina Chalk Smythe; her Aunt Lena and Uncle Ernest Culp. Survivors include daughter, Connie; granddaughter, Beth; sister, Joyce Rabidoux of Carefree, Arizona; sisters in law, Martha Billstein and Faye Martin; nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other relatives and friends, especially her lifelong friend, Opaline Hensley, whose daughter, Cheryle Simmans, made Opaline's visits to Nita in recent years possible.
The family will receive guests at Colonial Funeral Home from 1 to 2 pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
