Julian Medellin Jr., age 73, beloved husband, father, and popo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and joy. He was a proud resident of Victoria, TX, and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
A lifelong Houston Texans fan, Julian could often be found passionately cheering for his team while sharing that excitement with family and friends. When he wasn’t watching the game, he loved spending time outside, nurturing plants with the same care and dedication that he put into everything he did.
Julian was known for his incredible skills as a welder and machine operator. He dedicated many years to his work at the Fordyce Gravel Pit in Victoria, where he retired with pride. His talents extended beyond the workplace; he was famous among family and friends for his mouthwatering BBQ—an art he perfected over countless cookouts and gatherings.
Above all, Julian treasured his family. His love and devotion were the cornerstones of his life. He is survived by his wife, Irene Hernandez Medellin; daughters Ann Marie Avila, Angie Medellin Rodriguez (Jose Luis), and Sarah Medellin; sisters Mary Ybabez (Gilbert) and Esperanza "Hope" Martinez (Domingo, Jr.); and sister-in-law Olga Lopez.
Julian was preceded in death by his father, Julian Medellin Sr.; mother, Janie Sanchez Medellin; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa Tejada (Edward); brothers Damacio Lopez and Phillip Medellin; and son-in-law Ricardo Avila Jr. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory.
A celebration of life for Julian will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at CWV Hall, located at 1007 S. Main Street, Victoria, Texas.
