

Julius George Langenberg, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was born August 4, 1920, in Shiloh Community, near Hallettsville, Texas, to the late Albert and Augusta Lorfing Langenberg. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart for injuries received in Italy. Always a devoted veteran and a compelling storyteller, his interview was included in Tom Brokaw’s book, The Greatest Generation.
J.G. owned Electric Machine and Supply in Victoriauntil his retirement in 1976. He was active in his church, in veterans’ organizations, and served as the unofficial neighborhood watch representative. He liked nothing better than to sit in his garage with his faithful dog, Orion, and watch the activities on his street. Neighbors checked in with him daily for his humorous reports. Julius loved his children, his grandson and his wife, her family, and his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family. Julius was a member of Christ the Victor Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Doris Teague of McKinney, Lana Miller of Houston and Rebecca Bootzin of Bandera; grandson, Shane Teague and his wife, Kristen; great-grandchildren, Landon Teague and Reese Teague; his twin sister, Julia Swenson of Wenachee, Washington and sister, Wilhelmina Kolonko of Hallettsville, along with numerous, much-loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthy Wilks Langenberg in 2003; sisters, Lillie Hustede and Marie Langenberg; brothers, Otto Langenberg and Willie Langenberg.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 -8:00PM, Friday, June 8, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 AM at Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, 202 Stanly Street, Victoria, TX, with graveside services to follow at Shiloh Cemetery near Hallettsville with Rev. Amy Danchik officiating.
Pallbearers include: Roy Anderson, Louis Kutchka, Calvin and Harvey Langenberg, Bill Ponder, and Peter Scott.
Honorary pallbearers include: Chad Creagh, Frank Eschenburg, Gary Greer, Benny Hurdle, Robert Hustede, Lee Kneipper, RawleyKoehl, Paul and David Kolonko, Keith Landsness, Ray Langenberg, Gerald Marshall, Emmett Rhoden, Frank Schneider, Leroy Schroeder, Harvey Spies, Edwin Swenson, Shane Teague, Frank Tudyk, and Ray Wegner.
