Karen E. Logan Fleeman lost her life on Saturday, July 1, 2023, following a tragic motor vehicle accident in Port O’Connor, where she was doing what she loved most, being with her family making memories that will always be treasured.
Karen was born on July 15, 1960, the second of four children, to Asa E. and Marilyn Meyer Logan. Along with her three siblings, Marilyn Kay Logan Yaws, Asa Scott Logan, and Bryan “Bubba” Logan they moved to Victoria in 1970 to the family homestead in Crescent Valley. She spent many wonderful years there doing what she loved, visiting with her maternal grandparents, hanging out with neighborhood kids, riding the family pony, Mr. Penn and getting into whatever mischief she could with her siblings. She was a 1978 graduate of Stroman High School. Many of her classmates became lifelong friends.
Karen met Terry in 1978 and it was “love at first sight”. It didn’t take long for the two to decide they were soul mates. They celebrated 44 years of married life this past May. They moved to Bloomington, Texas on Edna Lane. Shortly after they welcomed their first child, a daughter Tiffany Elizabeth to their growing family in 1980. They then welcomed their second daughter to the family, a beautiful “red head,” Meagan Kay to the family in 1983. In 1986, they welcomed their third daughter, Taryn Lee. She was named after both Karen and Terry by taking parts of their names and adding them together.
As a young mother, Karen stayed home to raise her three daughters. Their home was filled with lots of kids, noise, laughter, and activity. This homestead is where the family still gathers for family dinners, holidays and has been home to extended family in time of need.
Once her children were in school Karen went back to work. She was an HR Lead with Oilpatch at the time of her death. She was a dedicated employee who always arrived early, stayed late when needed and was not only a co-worker but a friend to many.
She was a dedicated mom to her three daughters and was always involved in their school, cheerleading, sports, and livestock activities. She was always there to support them in whatever way needed. Karen was a “jewel” of a mother-in-law to her daughters husbands and welcomed them to the family with open arms. She loved them like her own.
One of Karen’s greatest accomplishments was becoming “MeeMaw” to her grandchildren. She was blessed with 8 of them. Kayden, Jason “Bubba” (Macee), Levi, Lexi, Ivan, Brodie, Laryn and Larsyn. She was expecting her first “great-grand” in January that would have elevated her to “Big MeeMaw” status. She loved them so much and was so proud of their accomplishments. No matter how tired she might have been from a long day or week at work, she made every effort to be there to support them in their sports, rodeo, and school activities.
A hobby that Karen started a few years ago was making “raggy” quilts for friends and loved ones. She enjoyed this hobby with her sister, Kay and her mom. She would spend hours looking for the perfect fabric, cutting and sewing blocks, and clipping the edges before presenting this treasured gift. If you were ever lucky enough to receive one of these treasures know that it was made with lots of thought and love from Karen. Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and wonderful true friend to many. She was generous, kind, loving and self-less. Her life was a living example of this scripture: Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
