

Katheryn “Kate” Beach Van Cleave, 95, of Victoria, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was born April 3, 1921 in Irwin Township, Pennsylvania to Norman Dail Beach, Sr. and Iva Mae Hoffman Beach.
She married the love of her life, George Clyde Van Cleave, on May 9, 1942. They were married for 62 years until his passing in 2004.
Kate was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She, along with her husband, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Victoria where they were both active in the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and were sponsors of the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She was a member of the Golden Crescent Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America, and also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, cross stitching, and playing bridge and dominoes with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; brother, John Keller Beach of Franklin, Pennsylvania; and brother, Norman Dail Beach, Jr. of Winnie, Texas.
Survivors include her son, Gary Van Cleave and his wife Diane of Victoria; her daughter, Gail Doerr and her husband Eldie of Austin; grandson, Brian Van Cleave of Victoria; and granddaughter, Kelly Van Cleave of College Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Stevens Health Care and Rehab Center of Yoakum, Texas for their care and compassion given to Mrs. Van Cleave for the last seven years of her life.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Russell Bowlin officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Clint Brist, Tommy LaVergne, Brian Van Cleave, Eldie Doerr, Roy Maternak, and Roger DuFour.
