Katie Ruth Low Cox of Victoria Texas died Friday April 20, 2018 at the age of 84. Katie was born in Menard Texas on August 13, 1933 to John Henry Low and Minnie Walker Low. She is survived by a sister Naomi Etheredge of Grandview, children Jerry Cox and wife Tana of San Angelo, Nancy Garner and husband Dale of Victoria, grandchildren Travis Dollins, Taylor Cox and Michael Garner, her precious great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Retta Bishop, Maude Conn, Mabel Word, Beatrice Layton, Anita Bradford, brothers Walter Low, Buster Low, Jack Low and Adam Low.
Katie was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She worked hard all her life and as a result had many extended families that she loved until the day she died. She began her career with M.L. Leddy & Sons, custom boot makers in San Angelo, she moved to Refugio Texas where she worked at South Texas Oilfield Maintenance for many years with the Gumm Family, she finished out her career working with her daughter for Woolson Real Estate and Arlington Apartments alongside a great friend Jerry Gonzales. Everyone had a nickname for Ms. Katie, firecracker, spitfire, little general, pistol, even the precious nurses at PAM Specialty Hospital had a name for her, Queen Katie, but more importantly she was known Aunt Kate and Granny and most important as a child of God.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Burial will be on May 5, 2018 at 2 PM at the Resthaven Cemetery in Menard, Texas.
