Kenneth R. Huehlefeld, age 64, passed away January 18, 2022 in the comfort of his own home, as he had wished. He was born September 17, 1957 in Victoria, Texas to the late Louie R. and Marjorie N. Huehlefeld. He was a Deputy for 15 years at the Victoria County Sheriff's Office, a career he loved and was perfectly suited for. He was extremely kind, loving and easy going though he could not tolerate mistreatment of the vulnerable, weak or defenseless and that applied to human or animal. They say you judge a man's character by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. He was an incredible man with a heart of gold.
I have heard from many, including him that he was very mischievous as a kid and often the one to get into trouble. Some of those smallest things he still felt bad about all these years later as an adult and often made amends with childhood friends and family who didn't even recall what had bothered him for years which he was glad to know and then able to let go of. He learned from everything, always striving to be better and many of us were lucky enough to be present as he flourished into an absolutely amazing man. I strived very hard to give him the best life and marriage because he deserved it and he kept me on my toes just keeping up with his thoughtfulness, compassion and consideration. How could you give him back anything less.
I was recently reminded of his highly competitive side talking to one of his closest friends. He told me that he played racketball with Kenny for a year before he was finally able to beat him. He also told me that he could break any racket with his backhand. Racketball was a huge part of his life. He was a champion and he traveled and competed to prove that many times over. He greatly enjoyed that time in his life and those who shared those days with him. By the time we met I guess that competitiveness had been redirected. He often told me and others that he believed his purpose in life was to make my life better and he did in so many ways. Even since his passing I have found things and found out things he was working on to ensure that I would be alright.
We had a lot to go through and learn before we were blessed to find each other in 2005 finally finding the love of our lives and on 7-07-07 we were married. Our beautiful love story continued for an additional 15 years and, as we changed our vows to say, continues "from this day forward". Ken's heart was so soft and so big it was effortless to just fall into. I truly believe the love we have goes on forever. As well, his love for his family was also never ending and he would do anything for those he loved. He was so full of love that he loved completely and unconditionally, accepting you as you are for who you are.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Shannon, his brother Norman Huehlefeld and wife Patsy, and his sister Patricia Stoilis and husband Milton. An entombment service will be held January 29, 2022 11:00 am at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. We ask friends and family to please not send flowers, but instead please send to https://gofund.me/bba8144b Please take a few minutes to share sentiments, memories, stories and photos from his life to be memorialized at rosewoodfuneralchapel.com. It would really mean a lot to him as well as leave those who love him something to look back on for years to come.
