Kenneth Jack Tate, 82, of Victoria, passed away peacefully from a lengthy illness on March 4, 2012. He was born December 27, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma to the late Kenneth Glenn and Daisy McCormac Tate. On June 24, 1950 he married the late Mary Alice Williams, his love for 54 years.
K. J. as he was known by most and “Sonny” by his family, all recognized him not only as a gentleman but a great respected family man and businessman. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After the Army he attended college at Louisiana Tech. Following college he made a career out of the Oilfield where he was a dedicated hard working businessman that was blessed to meet so many wonderful people. In 2012 he was recognized as a 50 year Mason with the Victoria Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Al Amin Shrine Temple.
Surviving Kenneth is a son Kenneth Wayne Tate, a daughter Deborah Welfel husband Calvin. Six brothers and sisters include Gaylen (Frances) Tate, Wynona (Glenn) Pannell, Wilma (Joe) Hollan, Wyma (Pat) Monney, Wynell (Allen) Maeker and Wrayal (Betty) Tate. He has five grandchildren Lane Tate, Kristen (Jeremy) Tomscha, Jonathan (Elise) Tate, Madeline Tate and Lacey Welfel. Also, five great grandchildren.
Including his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister Wanda Bell, a brother Kenneth Glenn Tate and two grandchildren Aaron and Corey Welfel.
A Masonic graveside service was arranged by Colonial Funeral Home and will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2012 at 10:00 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice Accolade or to The Alzheimer’s Association.
A special blessing and appreciation goes out to all of the staff at Alzcare Assisted Living and Hospice Accolade for the heartfelt care they provided during his illness.
